NATIONAL PRAYER ALTAR
MARATHON PRAYERS
Monday 12th – Sunday 18th February, 2024
“… Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me…? Feed my sheep” (John 21: 17).
In August 2020, former President Muhammadu Buhari signed into law the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020. That law, amongst others, stipulated that “The Commission may by order suspend the trustees of an association and appoint an interim manager or managers to manage the affairs of an association where it reasonably believes that there has been any mismanagement in the administration of the association”. The law threatened the leadership of various churches in the country. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) promptly headed to the court when “all attempts to convince the Federal government why it should not intervene or interfere with the management of the Church in the country through any of its agencies failed.”
It was a long drawn legal tussle, and in April 2023, CAN won the case in court. Hallelujah! All the church leaders united to confront the government and resist what was evidently an ill-motivated law that would have conferred the control of churches on the Federal Government.
The outcome of the court case on CAMA highlights a few notable points as follows:
1. The Church has the capacity to unite against a common foe.
2. The much-vaunted denominational divisions and rivalry amongst various church groups can easily be surmounted.
3. The churches can resist the government and prevail.
4. The church has the capacity to compel government to do what is right.
The question that naturally follows is, if church leaders were capable of resisting the government over CAMA, why have they not engaged governments over the persecution and daily murder of Christians in Nigeria? Are we to conclude that church leaders mounted their spirited resistance against CAMA because it threatened their positions and benefits, while they demonstrate indifference to the plight of their persecuted brethren because they or their families are not directly affected? It is disturbing to note that since the insurgency started in 2009, fifteen years ago, there has not been a single Christian leadership cooperation to engage Government the way church leaders mobilized to engage it against CAMA.
It is reasonable to conclude that if church leaders could rely on legal representation in court to stop the government from implementing CAMA, nothing stops them from utilizing the same process to compel Government to comply with Section 14 (2)b of the Constitution which states that “The security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government:” It is sadly apparent that “the security and welfare” of Nigerians are not the primary purpose of the APC political party in government.
Jesus Christ commanded Peter, “Feed my sheep”. Inherent in that command was the expectation that the sheep of Jesus would be protected and well nourished. Today, in addition to insecurity, there in hunger in the country. What steps are church leaders taking to ensure that the flock of Christ is fed in obedience to the command of the Lord?
Over the years, churches have amassed enormous funds from freewill offerings, tithes, thanksgiving, seed faith, and vows, and some of them are able to build places of worship costing billions of naira. The cost of some 'special' and annual church programs runs into billions of naira. Invariably, some churches or denominations can afford to import shiploads of food into the country without denting their purse. Why then have such projects not been their objective?
Not only can churches import food into the country to alleviate the sufferings of their members, they also have the financial capacity to start large scale mechanized modern farming. Some would-have-been farm lands are wasting as 'campgrounds.'
In obedience to the command of Jesus Christ, churches should feed their people some of whom had helped to raise those huge funds. A church might not be able to feed the entire country, but at least it can start with its members.
Churches should not only pray but also act like Jesus and meet the physical needs of their people. The suffering in the land is becoming unbearable. Miracle services for the suffering masses are great, but plus miracle food provided for those masses, it could be greater. To think that some church leaders were accomplices in foisting the present Government of hardship upon Nigeria puts on them the additional onus of alleviating the suffering that they have helped to bring upon the land.
The National Prayer Altar calls on church leaders to rise up in the interest of the flock of Jesus Christ by doing the following:
1. Take action to defend persecuted and vulnerable Christians the same way they fiercely fought CAMA.
2. Feed the sheep of Jesus Christ by importing food for free distribution to their members and others.
3. Embark on large scale mechanized farming to ensure sufficient local food production.
There was a prophetic word in August 2021, that the Lord was “ANGRY” with the Church leaders in Nigeria because of their indifference to the bloodshed and evil in the land. Caring thus for the suffering and hungry flock could be a redeeming appeasement. “...Our God is a consuming fire” (Heb. 12: 29).
1). Acts 4:34–37
Pray that the convicting power of the Holy Spirit shall rest upon church leaders and influential Christians to persuade them on the welfare of the flock.
2). John 13:35
Pray that the selfishness and self-centeredness that currently characterize many church leaders shall be melted away by the love of Christ.
3). Ezekiel 45:9–10
Intercede for the suffering masses in Nigeria, that God would deliver them from an insensitive and self-seeking political class that has elevated selfish interests above the collective welfare of Nigerians.
4). Gen. 9:6
Pray against bloodshed and insecurity in the land. Pray that God will raise righteous and just leaders that will execute judgement on all those involved in shedding the blood of the innocent in Nigeria.
5). Ezekiel 34:11-16
Pray that God will hear the cry of the poor and downtrodden in Nigeria, and give the land responsible, accountable, and God-fearing leaders.
6). Isaiah 32:10–15
Pray for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon Nigeria, that the revival fire shall sweep all over Nigeria and bring an end to corruption, violence, and immorality in the land.
7). Gen. 1:2-3
Pray that the present darkness over Nigeria shall give way to the light of God. Amen.

NATIONAL PRAYER ALTAR
MARATHON PRAYERS
Monday 5th – Sunday 11th February 2024
For the third week now, we are persuaded to draw the attention of Christians in Nigeria to crucial issues bordering on their personal survival and that of the Church. Since 2009, Islamist insurgents, funded, protected and deployed by some influential people within and outside Nigeria, have daily been decimating the Christian population. The carnage has assumed genocidal proportions. According to World Watch Monitor, in the past 12 years, Nigeria has been the most dangerous country in the world for anyone to be a Christian.
In Nigeria today, murder is legalized. In every other country in the world, murder is a crime punishable by either death or life imprisonment. Murderers in Nigeria roam free, get enlisted in the military as ‘repentant terrorists,’ and others are let go apparently with a license to commit the next act of terror, while their survivors remain destitute in IDP camps. Their victims depart planet earth without personal identity in mass graves.
Those agents of wickedness are not stronger than Nigerian Christians, neither are they better strategists. Christians are more in number, better educated, better enlightened, and stronger than those determined to exterminate them. Christian leadership failure is to blame.
A good parallel to the situation in Nigeria is found in Exodus 1: 8–11. Pharaoh admitted that the children of Israel were “more and mightier” than the Egyptians. How come it was the people who were “more and mightier” that became slaves to their apparently less and weaker opponents? The answer is: leadership.
In the past few days, a troublesome ethnic nationality in Nigeria that has gained notoriety for bloodletting and abuse of hospitality has openly escalated plans to cause further destruction of lives in the country, going as far as publishing its intention to bring destruction to the 36 states in Nigeria. That is in addition to registering a vigilante group made up entirely of members of that ethnic group. Informed observers have noted that that was how Janjaweed, the quasi terrorist police in Sudan, started. In all of these, what is the response of the Christian leadership?
The problem is failure both of leadership and followers. According to Sociology, two factors produce leadership in any society:
1. Someone to claim it.
2. Someone to recognize it.
If someone claims leadership but no one recognizes it, there would be no leader. So long as people recognize someone as their leader, that person remains a leader. Spiritually, recognizing someone as leader carries a lot of weight.
According to Lev. 4, if an anointed priest sinned, he would bring a young bullock to atone for his sin. However, if the entire congregation of Israel sinned, that priest would bring only a young bullock to atone for their sin. If the ruler sinned, he would bring a male goat to atone for his sin, whereas a common man would bring a female goat (Lev. 4:3-28). A corrupt and covetous leadership brings divine indignation upon its congregation. In this crucial season, the Nigeria Church requires Good Shepherds, not hirelings. A Good Shepherd will not allow the wolves to devour his flock. Good Shepherds will not have folded their arms since 2009 with no plan of engaging the insurgency. They will not throw the weight of the Church in support of enemies of Jesus Christ. The endorsement of the Muslim-Muslim ticket by influential Christian leaders, after eight years of jihadist Buhari, is a strong indictment on Christian leadership.
1. John 10:10
Take authority over the spirits of darkness that have come to steal, kill, and destroy in Nigeria. Bind all those evil spirits and cast them out.
2. Ezek. 34:2–6
Pray that they will not be blameless who were empowered and positioned by God to halt the murder of Christians in Nigeria, but did nothing.
3. John 10:11
Pray that God will raise a new generation of Church leaders, Good Shepherds, for the Nigeria Church.
4. John 10:12–13
Pray that God will dismiss every hireling occupying a position of Christian leadership in Nigeria Church.
5. Gal. 2: 11–14
Pray that God will raise the spirit of boldness and zeal for righteousness in the Church.
6. Acts 6: 2 – 4
Pray that the Holy Spirit would raise people in the Church who would reorganize the Church to do the work of God and at the same time answer the enemies at the gate.
7. Philp. 1:27–28
Pray for unity amongst Christians in Nigeria; unity to confront the enemies of God determined to destroy Christians.

Ps. 46:1
NATIONAL PRAYER ALTAR
MARATHON PRAYERS
Monday 29th January – Sunday 4th February 2024
Three things defile a land and bring curses upon the people. They are:
a. Adultery
b. Idolatry
c. Bloodshed
Of these three factors promoting curses, the worst is bloodshed, because it is not easily atoned for. The Bible says in Num. 35: 33: “So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.”
Since 2009, Muslim insurgents have embarked on a killing spree in Nigeria and in the process murdered tens of thousands of Christians. Their primary target has been the Christian communities. This was affirmed by Abubakar Shekau the leader of the Boko Haram terrorist group in a widely circulated video in 2012.
It is widely published that in the 8 years of Buhari, 63,111 Nigerians were recorded killed (according to available figures), making an average of 22 people killed every day in 8 years). Sadly, there are several other deaths and 'disappearances' unaccounted for.
In 2023 alone, over 8,119 people were killed in 4,326 violent events. That year rounded up with the massacre of 238 Christians in Bokkos, Mangu, and Barkin Lardi Local Government Areas of Plateau State on Christmas Eve. Those are the official figures, which usually underplay the gravity of such killings.
In August 2021, the Lord sent a message to Nigerian Church leaders, that He did not command them to be quiet about all the evils taking place in the country. In a strongly worded message, the Lord declared that He was “ANGRY” with Nigerian Church leaders. As published in our prayer call for last week, none of the Church leaders responded to that admonition as well as to the other messages sent by the Lord in 2021. One might ask, What is the fate of Christians if their leaders no longer listen to the Lord?
In all the bloodshed going on in Nigeria, we also wish to ask, whom is the Lord holding primarily responsible? Ezekiel 34:7–8 laments, “Therefore, ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord; As I live, saith the Lord God, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock...”
There is documented evidence that every effort to build structures to protect Christian lives in Nigeria was deliberately truncated by some Church leaders. The National Christian Elders Forum (NCEF) gallantly confronted the Church leaders and demanded accountability from them. The shepherds of the Nigerian Church retorted that the NCEF was causing disunity in the Church. They went so far as publishing in the newspaper that CAN had dissolved the NCEF. There is no such constitutional authority in the apex body of the Church. The Christian Elders asked Church leaders 12 questions in June 2018. To date, they have not provided an answer to any of the questions.
Last week, a delegation of church leaders visited President Tinubu and, in a published report, said that "President Bola Tinubu’s administration is making positive efforts to tackle the challenges facing the country”. During the same period, a Muslim organization said that it was "deeply concerned about the current economic reality in Nigeria and the devastating impacts of the removal of petrol subsidy on Nigerians.” While the Muslim leaders spoke truth to power, Christian leaders patted the President on the back.
It has been observed that most of our prominent Church leaders play a brand of politics that negatively impacts on Christians and weakens the Church, while their Muslim counterparts play politics to protect Muslims and promote Islam. It is the Christian leadership brand of politics that cushioned the 2015 conspiracy of some Church leaders to unseat a Christian President and hand power over to a jihadist. They repeated it in 2019 by facilitating the re-election of Buhari and topped it in 2023 by throwing their weight behind the Muslim-Muslim ticket. While the blood of 238 Christians killed in Plateau State on Christmas Eve is still fresh on the ground, Church leaders were in Aso Villa commending Tinubu.
The only good thing that came out of the meeting was President Tinubu sermonizing to Nigerians not to make money their god. We hope the Church leaders got the message.
According to another message from the Lord in 2021, the Nigeria Church has a LEADERSHIP CRISIS. That message from heaven in 2021 went further to state: “What the Nigerian Church is parading as Christian leadership today cannot enter the Holy of Holies to obtain deliverance for Nigerian Christians.”
In the prayer call for last week, we stated, "The victory or defeat of an army is determined primarily by the quality of its leadership." It is time for Nigeria Christians to interrogate Christian leadership in the country and hold it accountable. The bloodshed going on in the land must be stopped. The runaway evil and corruption trampling upon the country must cease. The Church is the light of the world and the salt of the earth. The Nigeria Church deserves leadership that will be a moral authority, enabling Christians to exercise spiritual authority over the hordes of darkness invading the land. A Church without moral authority cannot exercise spiritual authority.
Christian leadership must be accountable and Christlike. A Christian leadership that attended the funeral of TB Joshua and claimed it went to “honour” him should be interrogated. In his lifetime, the Nigeria Church rejected TB Joshua as a servant of God. Why would Church leaders officially attend the funeral of such a man to “honour” him? Would true prophets give honour to a false prophet? Now that BBC has produced a three-part documentary asserting to the whole world that TB Joshua was an occultist and a false prophet, what would the apex body of Christianity in Nigeria say? Afterall, they went to “honour” him.
A set of Christian leadership that ignores messages from God must be overhauled. Such leadership that is evidently disconnected from the Lord of the Church can only lead Christians into penury and destruction.
At the National Prayer Altar, all we can do is to pray. However, there are influential Christians in the country who can act. The relentless bloodshed, adultery, and idolatry in Nigeria must be checked. Christians must ensure that their leadership accepts responsibility to lead the Church into victory over all the evils assailing Nigeria. A Christian leadership that is preoccupied with selfish interests is not what this season needs. There is too much at stake. If Nigerian Christians are truly desirous of deliverance from all the evils in the country, they must ensure a Christlike leadership.
1. Ps. 24:7
Thank God that the foundation of Christianity in Nigeria was built by God on faithful servants of Christ, like Bishop Ajayi Crowther, Apostle Ayo Babalola, Evangelist Paul Gindiri, Pastor Granville Elton, and so on. Pray that this foundation of righteous Christian leadership shall speak again and produce faithful servant-leaders for the Church in Nigeria.
2. Matt. 25:28–30
Pray that all the Church leaders whom the Lord empowered and positioned to intervene for the Church and speak against the evil in the land, but who did not take any action, being therefore guilty of criminal negligence, should be judged by God as unprofitable servants.
3. 2 Pet. 2:1–3
Pray that every Church leader who received money, land, and other favours from politicians, governments, or Islamists, and because of those inducements exposed the Body of Christ to injury, shall be judged by God.
4. 2 Cor. 11:13–15
Pray that every Church leader in the occult or who traffics with the powers of darkness in the name of a Christian 'ministry' shall be exposed and judged by God.
5. Matt. 15:13
Pray that all the greedy, covetous, and self-seeking people polluting the sanctuary of God in Nigeria shall be uprooted and dismissed by Heaven.
6. 2 Pet. 2:12-15
Pray that all immoral and perverse 'ministers of the gospel', who engage in sex rituals or in immoral sexual acts with Church members and non-members, shall be exposed by the light of God and dismissed from the altar, in the name of Jesus Christ.
7. Dan 1:1-8; 6:3-5
Pray that God will promote righteous, God-fearing, and Christlike Christians into positions of leadership in the Nigeria Church. Amen.

Ps. 46:1
NATIONAL PRAYER ALTAR
MARATHON PRAYERS
Monday 22nd – Sunday 28th January 2024
I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea. (Rev. 1: 11).
We might consider 2021 “the year of letters”; the year in which the Lord sent different people to write letters to the leaders of the Nigeria Church. We are aware of five of such letters, but we have four of them in our possession. The letters were written on 11th April, 12th April, 8th May, and 26th August 2021. In the letters, the Lord admonished His Church in Nigeria to repent or face judgment. (We do not have access to the fifth letter, which was also written in May 2021 by a Pastor, but we are aware that it was written to 12 Church leaders.)
Excerpts from the letters are as follows:
11th April 2021
In the early hours of Sunday, 11th April 2021, about four (4) captains of separate destructive troops from the LORD came into the country. They had a warrant from the LORD… The reason for their mission was sins of the Nigerian people and the sins of the Nigeria Church. Here are what the Lord mentioned:
a). They (the leaders) know that many in their congregation, who assemble before them, are rebellious sinners who continually grieve My Spirit which is among them, yet they love it so …
b). They know that My return is imminent and that their congregation is far from being ready, they surely know that their members are not ready for My return, yet they suffer them gladly to continue so...
c). They know the enormity of the bloodshed in their country, caused by their countrymen; they know the effect of the blood of the poor innocents upon the land…
12th April 2021
“… the Nigerian Church is facing LEADERSHIP CRISIS. The primary problem is not Boko Haram, Fulani ‘herdsmen,’ President Buhari, ISWAP, Islamists, or the "Bandits." Those are merely symptoms of the problem of the Nigeria Church. The problem is the LEADERSHIP CRISIS within the Church.”
8th May 2021
“Your repentance must be thorough, the highs and the lows, every Church and everyone that is identified by the name of the LORD across your country, for my wrath is upon all your nation, else I will strike you just once in full might, for my wrath is come up to my face,” says the LORD.
26th August 2021
“The Word of the LORD came with a force and rebuke that was unusual, unsettling and unmistakably URGENT. We heard expressly from the LORD that He is ANGRY with the leadership of His Church in Nigeria. He made it clear that He did not command His Church to be silent and He will hold everyone concerned individually and collectively responsible and accountable for the unrestrained run of evil in the land.”
To date, there is no evidence that any of the Church leaders who received the letters responded. Nearly all of them ignored the letters. The only response came from a prominent Pastor who castigated the message of 11th April 2021 and insisted in a circulated message that God cannot judge the Church. He referred to the message as “arrant heterodoxy” and he claimed that “God cannot judge the body of Christ.” His view directly opposes 1 Pet. 4:17; 1 Cor. 11:31; Heb. 10:30–31. Ironically, it is the views of that senior Pastor that are “arrant heterodoxy”, a complete deviation from accepted beliefs and standards in the Church.
On Tuesday 16th January 2024, a powerful blast ripped through the ancient city of Ibadan in Oyo State. Not a few intercessors agree by revelation that Ibadan is the spiritual capital of Nigeria. To the discerning minds, a powerful blow was struck at the spiritual nerve centre of Nigeria. Why was it not prevented by the Lord?
While Christians were still mourning the massacre of 238 brethren on Christmas Eve of 2023, the Fulanis started their "Nomad Vigilante" in Nasarawa State. An informed observer commented that that was how the militant group Janjaweed started in Sudan. To date, none of the estimated 500 insurgents that attacked Plateau state in December of 2023 has been arrested. Are they spirits? How can the Christian leadership be inactive in this situation?
As pointed out in all the letters, the Nigeria Church has critical issues with leadership. In many crucial instances, it was difficult to know on which side some prominent Christian leaders stood. Were they on the side of the Lord, or on the side of the Lord’s enemies?
According to the letter of 26th August 2021, the Lord expected the Church leaders to speak against the evils and the bloodshed in the land. On the contrary, what happens repeatedly is that some prominent Church leaders speak in endorsement of those promoting corruption, evil and bloodshed in the land. A few public examples may suffice, and they are present below, although the names of those church leaders who made those statements have been discreetly omitted:
What those church leaders thus said on earth was not in agreement with what the Lord would have wanted them to say.
There is an urgency in the atmosphere. The household of God must be put in order. The starting point is the leadership, because God relates to His people through their leaders. The victory or defeat of an army is determined primarily by the quality of its leadership. Since 2009, Christians in Nigeria have been under attacks, daily. To date, there is no organized plan of response or defence by the Christian leadership. The Lord of the Church is stirring. He cannot take it any longer.
In 2017, the National Christian Elders Forum started calling for independent investigations into the leadership of the Church. Rather than hearken, Church leaders castigated and reproached the Forum of Elders and accused them of causing disunity in the Church!
Nigeria's Christians must prayerfully re-organize the Church. Prayer is good, but “faith without works is dead”. Christian leadership must be Christlike. The Good Shepherd places the safety and well-being of His flock first. In Nigeria, the flock of the Lord is vulnerable and exposed; it has become prey to every beast of the field. Insurgents, bandits, kidnappers, and Fulani herdsmen snuff them out without repercussions. For 12 years running, Nigeria remains the most dangerous country on earth for anyone to be a Christian. The 2023 World Watch Monitor report confirms that Nigeria keeps the unenviable title of headship, with 82% of global Christian mortality arising from persecution!
Meanwhile, there are Christian leaders to whom the Lord gave influence, power, and capacity to halt the mayhem. They would rather endorse the perpetrators and sponsors of the genocide against their brethren. How could any Godly leadership act in this manner?
The Lord has spoken, He has written, and He has been patient. No one can blame the Lord if He begins to execute judgment.
1. Isa. 26:9-11
Pray that God will teach Nigerian leaders, both religious and political, righteousness by the execution of divine judgment.
2. Ezek. 18:1–4
Everyone who has contributed to the bloodshed and indignation upon Nigeria through their rebellion against the will of God, whether they are leaders or followers, whether in the Church or outside of it, let Almighty God judge them to His satisfaction.
3. Gen. 9:6
All those shedding the blood of Nigerians and are still determined to shed more blood, let the judgment in Gen. 9:6 come upon all of them.
4. Ezek. 11:1–4, 13
Every false leader in the Church who claims to be the servant of Christ but is serving other interests, may the Lord expose them and judge them for their duplicity.
5. Matt. 3:8–10
Everyone whom God promoted and placed in a position of influence to stop the killings of Christians but did not do anything, let the judgment of God start with them.
6. Act 1:18
Pray that every Balaam in the Church, who placed his personal interests above the interest of the Kingdom of God, shall be dismissed by God and replaced with a worthy servant of Christ.
7. Matt. 25:31–33
Almighty God, in this season, separate the sheep from the goats in the Nigeria Church.

NATIONAL PRAYER ALTAR
MARATHON PRAYERS
Monday 15th – Sunday 21st January 2024
SECTION 14 (2)b of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria states:
“The security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government:”
On Monday 8th January 2024, a marketing staff of a bank in Lagos State committed suicide in the office toilet by drinking poison. We grieve deeply with her family, relatives, colleagues, and friends. It is one more painful death too many in this country. We pray that God would comfort members of her family.
In our prayers this week, we shall highlight this unfortunate incident as a fresh call for concerted and intensive prayers for righteous leadership in Nigeria. The 32-year-old woman needed not to have died if those who acquired leadership in the country had performed their roles creditably. The young woman left a note in her diary which, amongst others, stated:
"Nothing is working in my life. My figures are low. The economy is getting harder. The future doesn't seem bright at all. I see extreme hardship. I can't bear the pain anymore. Dear Lord have mercy on me!"
It can be concluded that the young woman was driven to suicide by the state of the economy. An insensitive commentator wrote that suicide is not an option, as if the woman willingly chose suicide as her exit plan from the world. The correct comment should have been that an incompetent and inconsiderate government was not an option for this country. Nigerians deserve better than the quality of leadership they are currently receiving. The people are not deceived by media propaganda of government activities. The reality is in the marketplace.
Since 2015 when the All Progressives Congress (APC) forced its way into power, it has inflicted nothing but hardship and sorrow upon Nigerians. Every index of growth and progress of the country collapsed under APC. To worsen matters, when the new administration was sworn in through a controversial Supreme Court judgement, it immediately increased the price of fuel from N187 to over N500 within minutes of receiving power. There was no arrangement to cushion the impact on the populace. It was a most inconsiderate and insensitive policy.
Under APC, tens of thousands of Nigerians have lost their lives in various genocidal attacks by Boko Haram, Fulani herdsmen, bandits, ISWAP, and kidnappers. Millions of Nigerians have lost their means of livelihood because APC on multiple occasions drove the Nigerian economy into recession and turned Nigeria into the poverty capital of the world. To date, APC has not provided solutions to the crisis it has brought and still brings upon Nigeria.
Governance is serious business. It should not be seen as personal political achievement or a tribal trophy in the contest for supremacy amongst ethnic nationalities. Those who accept the responsibility to govern must demonstrate empathy and capacity to make the lives of the people better. Since 2015, APC has not demonstrated responsibility in governance.
The first two constitutional parameters to assess the performance of government are stated in Section 14 (2)b. Only a self-deceiver would give APC any pass mark in “the security and welfare of the people”. In both parameters, APC scored ZERO. It is absurd that such a political party still contested for re-election and went all out to push itself into office through very controversial circumstances.
The death of this young woman is very painful, and the agony of Nigerians under APC is unbearable. The buffoonery and crass corruption exhibited by some officials of the present administration leaves a bad taste in the mouth and a nauseous odour in the atmosphere. The impression one gets is that these government officials assume that governance is a booty, and the national treasury is the spoil of war.
So far, this new administration has not demonstrated any capacity to handle the problems caused by its predecessor. On the contrary, it is making itself an accomplice in the genocide and economic hardship inflicted on the masses.
One can therefore conclude that, contrary to the Constitution, the security and welfare of the people are NOT the primary purpose of APC in government. The question that APC should answer is, What is the primary purpose of APC in government? Apparently, it is neither the security nor the welfare of the people.
If the politicians in APC do not understand governance, they should hire consultants to teach and help them. The incompetence, the irresponsibility, and the insensitivity of APC to the sufferings they have inflicted on Nigerians should stop. A group of greedy and kleptomaniac politicians should not continue to feed fat on the misery and pain of Nigerians.
In the meantime, prayers should be mobilized and intensified that all unrighteous leadership in Nigeria must give way for righteous leadership. It is when the righteous are in power that the people rejoice. As of today, Nigerians are not rejoicing.
May God have mercy upon Nigerians.
1. Rom. 12:5
Pray for the family of Amarachi the unfortunate dead banker, that God would comfort and strengthen them to bear the loss. Pray also for other Nigerians on the verge of giving up, that God would deliver and encourage them to endure the present afflictions in the land.
Pray against the growing rate of suicide in the country.
2. 1 Tim. 2:1-3
Some believers misunderstand this Bible verse. They assume that every ruler should be blessed. God commands us to pray, but He did not tell us the type of prayer we are to pray for a kind of leader. For benevolent and considerate rulers, we might pray for wisdom and more grace, but for wicked and evil rulers, we can pray that God would restrain them and teach them righteousness by His judgment, as we find in Acts 12:5, 23-24. The goal of the prayer for rulers is so that people would “lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”
Isaiah 26:9–11: Pray for the judgment of God upon every corrupt politician and corrupt government official in Nigeria. Pray that God would teach corrupt Nigerian government officials righteousness by His fiery judgment.
3. Isaiah 28:14–18
It is open secret that many politicians get into office through rituals and ungodly covenants. Pray that their covenants with hell shall be nullified; that their blood sacrifice be nullified by the Blood of Jesus.
Isaiah 25:7–8: Pray that every spell and incantation cast as a veil over Nigeria shall be consumed by the fire of God.
4. Rev. 16:5-7
Pray that God would judge all those shedding the blood of Nigerians to draw power from darkness; that God would give them their own blood to drink.
5. Ezek 34:7–10
Pray that every Church leader who endorsed this set of evil politicians into office shall partake of their judgment and punishment.
6. Ps. 72:12–15
Pray that from henceforth, the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government in Nigeria.
7. Joel 2:25–27: Pray that times of refreshing shall come upon Nigerians.

NATIONAL PRAYER ALTAR
MARATHON PRAYERS
Monday 8th – Sunday 14th January 2024
The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. (Heb. hamas) Genesis 6: 11.
On 7th October, 2023, the terrorist organization, Hamas, launched a coordinated deadly attack on Israel. The attack was unprovoked. It attracted a fiery retaliation from Israel, which has led to the devastation of Gaza. Global opinion is divided about who was right or wrong.
The spirit behind the action of Hamas is mentioned in the Bible as one of the factors that made God to release the Flood upon the earth in the days of Noah. The word “ violence” in Gen. 6:11 is the Hebrew word hamas. The other factor mentioned in Gen. 6:11 responsible for the judgment by flood was corruption.
In Nigeria, both corruption and violence are recurring decimals that have brought the country low. While corruption steals the people’s wealth but spares their lives, hamas takes lives violently, and in some instances, wipes out entire families - and still steals and wastes their resources. Whenever the combination of corruption and violence manifest in a land, the judgment of God is not far.
Since 2009, the spirit of hamas has been afflicting Nigeria with pain, sorrow, and destruction. Thousands upon thousands of innocent citizens have been murdered in cold blood while many communities have been sacked and the inhabitants expelled into Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps.
A worrisome observation is that the activities of hamas in Nigeria appear to be a well-coordinated international conspiracy involving countries in the Middle East as well as influential local collaborators. The objective of the conspirators is to use violence to redefine the local demography of Nigeria in favour of adherents of a particular religion and an ethnic nationality.
On Christmas Eve of 2023, disciples of hamas murdered 238 Christians in Bokkos, Mangu, and Barkin Lardi Local Government Areas (LGA) in Plateau State. While the country was reeling with shock, and government played mute, the terrorists struck again on 1st January 2024 and killed over 40 Christians in Borno, Yobe, and Kaduna states. In Chibok LGA of Borno State, 10 Christians were killed while in Kaura LGA of Kaduna State, 17 Christians were killed, and 24 Christians were killed in Kajuru LGA in Kaduna State. As if the carnage was insufficient, on 4th January 2024 a COCIN pastor with 6 members of his congregation were killed by the Boko Haram in Geidam LGA of Borno State.
To date, there has been no proactive response by the Christian leadership. That has been the unfortunate pattern from Church leadership, which is expected to respond to these issues.
The recurring decimal of death and destruction in the country calls leadership capacity to question both in the Church and in the Government. While Church leadership and Government might deny complicity in these killings, they cannot deny criminal negligence. In a country fitted with the relevant security units, leadership has been worrisomely negligent.
Under the circumstances, prayers must be renewed for God to visit upon Nigeria severe judgment that will wipe out the twin evils of corruption and violence in the country. "Hamas" shall not flourish in this land. Amen.
1. 2 Thes. 1:6
Pray that God shall recompense tribulation to every nation sponsoring and supporting terror attacks in Nigeria.
2. Ps. 83
Upon all the foreign countries involved in the conspiracy of violence against Nigeria, decree the judgment written.
3. Isaiah 33:22
Section 14 (2)b of the Constitution states: “the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government:” By virtue of this Constitutional provision, raise a lamentation to God that governments in Nigeria have failed in this primary responsibility. Demand justice and judgment from God against complicit Governments of Nigeria.
4. Rev. 16:5–6
Pray that God will judge the terrorists and their sponsors according to their deeds. As they have delighted in shedding blood, let God give them their own blood to drink.
5. Judges 5: 23
Pray that every Christian leader whom God has permitted to occupy leadership position, but has maintained silence and indifference at these atrocities, shall be judged according to the word of God.
6. Gen. 9:6
According to the word of God, pray that God will empower and release men to execute judgment on all those who shed the blood of Nigerians.
7. Isaiah 7: 7
Cancel and nullify, with the blood of Jesus Christ, every sorcery, spell, divination, and occult manipulations that the bloodshed in Nigeria is being used to feed. Decree that whatever the forces of darkness plan to do with the blood of Nigerians, shall not prosper. Amen.

NATIONAL PRAYER ALTAR
MARATHON PRAYERS
Monday 1st – Sunday 7th January, 2024
And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the Lord for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace (Jeremiah 29: 7).
We congratulate Nigerians who have made it into 2024, as we also commiserate with the government and people of Plateau State over the murder of over 197 Christians on Christmas Eve of 2023. In the same vein, we commiserate with all the families that lost loved ones in various parts of the country, particularly in Kaduna, Benue, Taraba, Borno, Adamawa states, as well as in Zamfara, Niger, Katsina and Imo states. Apart from the mayhem unleashed upon Nigeria by Islamist insurgents, the country is also struggling with multiple cases of kidnapping, ritual killings, and cult wars.
As we enter a new year, one does not require a prophecy to predict what 2024 portends. The mantra of the government in power has said it all. On 15th October 2022, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, at a public event in Kaduna, said, “I promise to continue from where Buhari stopped.” The Nation Newspaper reported on 6th February 2023, that ex-president Buhari told a campaign crowd in Katsina that “Tinubu will continue from where we stopped.”
Where did Buhari stop?
1. Buhari stopped after turning Nigeria into the poverty capital of the world.
2. Buhari stopped after giving Islamist insurgents freeway to murder and devastate Nigerians without arrest, and without prosecution. While their victims suffered unprintable horrors, the insurgents/terrorists were pampered as “repentant terrorists.” Under Buhari, murder was legalized in Nigeria.
3. Buhari stopped after giving thieves and looters free access to loot the national treasury. Corruption under Buhari made Babangida and Abacha look like amateur corrupt leaders.
4. Buhari stopped after inflaming tribalism and clannish mentality to a level unseen before in Nigeria. Four out of the six geopolitical zones threatened secession at various times while Buhari was president.
5. Buhari stopped after forcing thousands of professionals to flee the country.
6. Buhari also stopped after driving the economy into recession on multiple occasions.
These are just a few of the unenviable records of the Buhari administration.
For an incoming administration to “promise” that it will continue from where Buhari stopped, the message should be clear what is in store for Nigeria. Little wonder that immediately the new president was sworn in, right on the podium, he increased the price of fuel from 187 naira to over 500 naira. A few days later, he “floated” the Naira exchange rate, and Naira to Dollar skyrocketed from N500 to N1,200. Meanwhile, official minimum wage remains at N30,000.00. The “promise” is being fulfilled. The new government is continuing from where Buhari stopped.
The prognosis for 2024 is not pleasant, unless God steps in. The current managers of Nigeria have a track record of falsehood and deception. Even when they promise good, the result is often suffering and agony to the masses. Whoever believes promises from such politicians has probably not learnt any lesson about them.
Under the circumstances, Nigerians must intensify prayers to the only true Judge who shall grant the masses justice. The nation’s Judiciary has already exposed its character. The Nigerian judiciary is no longer the last hope of the common man. It has lately defined itself as the last hope of corrupt politicians.
Prayers of repentance must be intensified in 2024, that God would have mercy on the land and bring to an end His indignation against Nigeria. As we pointed out in previous publications, there is indignation against the land because of iniquity in the sanctuary. In addition to prayers of repentance, Christians must begin to demand accountability from Balaams in the Church. As Christians pray to God for mercy, they must also demonstrate that they have learnt to stand for truth and righteousness. These are the virtues God wants to see in the Church.
Isaiah 59: 1–2 points out very well: “Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”
In 2024, purpose to pray for the peace of Nigeria. If Nigeria has peace, the people shall have peace; if Nigeria prospers, the people will prosper.
Happy New Year.
1. Ps. 46:1-11
Thank God for preserving us to see the New Year. Pray that He will be the refuge of Nigeria, and that He would deliver the country from all its troubles.
2. Prov. 30:14
Pray that God will deliver Nigerians from a generation of leaders whose every decision and action inflicts sorrow and suffering upon the people. May God arise and execute judgment upon them.
3. Ps. 68:1-3
Pray that God will arise and scatter all the enemies of truth, righteousness, and justice in Nigeria. Whether they are in the Church or in government, let God arise against all enemies of righteousness in Nigeria.
4. Isaiah 33:1
A major problem of Nigeria is the treachery of its leaders. From political leaders to civil servants, INEC officials, the Judiciary, and senior security officers, Nigeria is consistently weakened and compromised by treacherous public office holders. Pray that every traitor shall be judged by God according to their treacheries. Pray that by the spirit of judgement and the spirit of burning, God will raise people to execute judgment on these traitors.
5. Rev. 16:5-6
Demand divine punishment upon all who conspire to shed the blood of the saints in Nigeria. Whether they are within Nigeria or in foreign countries, pray that God would give them to drink of their own evil cup and cause their blood to be shed violently.
6. 1 Cor. 4:1-2
Pray that God would raise faithful leaders in the land.
7. Ps. 125
Pray that the rod of the wicked shall no longer rest upon Nigeria; that as the mountains surround Jerusalem, the Lord shall surround Nigeria. Amen.

MARATHON PRAYERS
Monday 25th December 2023 – Sunday 1st January 2024
Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand. (Dan. 12: 10)
In Heb. 11:7, the Bible says, “Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house;” Lot escaped from Sodom and Gomorrah with his two daughters because they responded to God’s warning. In recent times, the late founder of Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship International, Demos Shakarian, escaped the Ottoman holocaust in Turkey. According to www.cbn.com the family of Demos Shakarian “escaped the holocaust due to a warning from a Pentecostal prophet whom God had raised up to warn the nation of the disaster that would come upon them. The Shakarian family heeded the words of the prophet and fled to America where Demos grew up in the Pentecostal Church.”
In recent years, God has been warning Christians in Nigeria about the danger posed by political Islam, but most Church leaders and influential Christian elites have dismissed the warnings as "fear mongering and politics." At present, both violent and stealth jihad are running full steam in Nigeria.
Whenever Church leaders are cautioned about their brand of politics that throws the weight of the Church behind Muslim candidates, they retort that those who are warning them do not understand politics. Meanwhile, their perceived understanding of politics has not prevented tens of thousands of Christians from being murdered in Nigeria.
Today, in a country where Christians are clearly in the majority, political jihad has taken the Nos 1, 2, 4, and 5 of the five topmost offices in the country. Educational jihad has lowered the standard of education, diplomatic jihad has tactfully included Nigeria as member of Islamic delegations of the OIC, while agricultural jihad has designated Nigeria as "food hub" for OIC member countries. On top of these, violent jihad has given Nigeria an unenviable global record of 89% of Christian mortalities based on faith-based persecution.
Last week, the Minister of Finance reportedly announced that Nigeria will adopt the Islamic model of finance because the world can no longer adopt “elevated interest rates”. Islam primarily means religion. When did Islam become an economic model for secular states? How could one reconcile adoption of Islamic finance with the constitutional provision that the government "shall not adopt any religion as state religion"? Is this not a violation of the Constitution? Did China, Japan, and India adopt Islamic finance to grow their economy?
Some things are hiding in plain sight while Christians keep their eyes wide shut. “Adam was not deceived.” The wise shall understand.
The solution is not to flee the country. The solution is for Christians to reorganize and reposition the Church. There is a war of supremacy between the Kingdom of God and that of darkness in Nigeria. At present, the Church has been compromised on many fronts, but the Most High reigns supreme in the kingdoms of men. If Christians arise, the tide will turn in favour of the Church.
It is time for the sons of Issachar to arise in the Church and demand a reorganization of Christianity in Nigeria. It is time for renewed vigour in the place of intercession and prayers. It would be naïve of Christians to adopt a simplistic approach to these issues. It is certain that something sinister is brewing.
The wise shall understand.
1. Luke 1:68–75
Thank God for His Presence and enduring love for His people. Even though the enemy is raging, God is with us.
2. Haggai 1:13–14
Pray that God will stir the spirit of Nigerian Christians to arise and organize the Church to respond effectively to contemporary threats against Christianity in Nigeria.
3. James 1:5
Pray for divine wisdom to guide Christians as they respond to existential threats in Nigeria.
4. Job 5:12–14
Pray that God will disappoint the devices and craftiness of all who conspire against Nigeria and the Christians in the country. Their counsel shall not stand and none of their plans shall come to pass.
5. Ps 2
Pray that all the forces, both physical and spiritual, that conspire against Jesus Christ and His Church in Nigeria, shall be broken in pieces with a rod of iron.
6. Ezekiel 34:7–11
Pray that God will execute judgment on all Balaams in the Church, who through greed and covetousness, cheaply betray the Kingdom of God.
7. Rev. 11:15
Decree by the authority of the word of God that Nigeria is the Kingdom of our God and of His Christ.

NATIONAL PRAYER ALTAR
MARATHON PRAYERS
Monday 18th – Sunday 24th December 2023
It is no longer news that Nigeria ranks as one of the most corrupt countries in the world. To many Nigerians, if the country could resolve the problem posed by corruption, Nigeria will become a beautiful place. What many do not realize is that corruption is merely a symptom of the disease plaguing Nigeria. The real disease is the dual and conflicting ideologies in the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
Every nation is identified by its national ideology. There are countries that embrace democracy, there are communist and socialist, and there are countries that subscribe to a religious ideology, like Sharia. Nigeria is openly touted as a democratic country, but its very Constitution makes provision for Sharia. Most analysts believe that it is the contest between Democracy and Sharia within the 1999 Constitution that is pulling the country in two opposite directions. It is this conflict that is at the root of the dysfunction of the Nigerian state.
The 1999 Constitution contradicts itself when in Section 10 it asserts as follows: “The Government of the Federation or of a State shall not adopt any religion as State Religion”, yet in Section 275, it makes provision for Sharia. Both democracy and sharia are antithetical to each other. The late Justice Mohammed Bello summed it up as follows, “Section 38(1) of the Constitution ensures for every person the right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion, including freedom to change his religion or belief, whereas under Sharia, ‘ridda’ (change of religion) is a capital offence. Consequently, the offence of ridda is inconsistent with Section 38(1) and by virtue of Section 1 is unconstitutional.”
The late Prof. Ben Nwabueze added, “The conclusion is thus inescapable that the prohibition in Section 10 of the Constitution stamps with an indelible taint of unconstitutionality, the Sharia criminal law, whether in its original form as contained in the Quran and the Sunnah or in a codified form to be enacted by the National Assembly or a State House of Assembly”.
It is safe to conclude that if the Constitution of a country is at conflict with itself, that country cannot have peace. The question that rises therefore is, how did Nigeria obtain the 1999 Constitution? Which Constituent Assembly sat to put such a document together for Nigeria?
Chief John Nwodo, a former Minister of Information, in a video clip that went viral, stated that, as the substantive Minister of Information in 1999, he did not know where the 1999 Constitution came from. It was not printed by his ministry, and the document surfaced at the swearing-in ceremony of President Obasanjo. Until then, no one had sighted a copy of the 1999 Constitution.
The saving grace for Nigerians is that those who crafted the 1999 Constitution retained Section 10, as it was in the 1979 Constitution, before adding elements of the Sharia ideology to the document. If Section 10 was not in the Constitution, there might have been a wholesale handing over of Nigeria to other forces using religion as a masquerade for cultural and political domination of the country.
This conspiracy is inherently the promotion of one religion over and above other religions. It has nothing to do with religion. It is a cultural agenda to dominate the indigenous ethnic nationalities that make up Nigeria, irrespective of religion, tribe, or gender. As the Hausa Muslims in Zamfara, Niger, and Kebbi, are beginning to find out, religion has nothing to do with this matter.
Elections in Nigeria have been drifting away from democratic norms, while the judiciary has been giving some rulings that are unquestionably in favour of undemocratic processes. If Nigeria is truly a democratic country, yet critical decisions are not in conformity with democratic norms, then, we may ask, which ideology is running the country?
It is this conflict of ideologies that promotes corruption, because a lot of compromise must be made to have people look the other way. This compromise has affected the security units, the legislature, the judiciary, religious leaders, traditional rulers, and of course, the media.
There is need for prayer mobilization against this conspiracy. Christians should be aware of critical issues that affect Nigeria and prayerfully seek divine intervention. Some issues run deep, and are too complex for civil agitations alone to resolve them. It is time to go to the root of the current crisis in Nigeria and prayerfully provide solutions. Nigeria requires a new Constitution, not an amended Constitution. The indigenous ethnic nationalities should accept responsibility for the introduction of a new Constitution for Nigeria.
In the meantime, Christians should commence consistent prayer action for a new Constitution for the country. Let us pray.
1. Ps. 124
Pray and thank God for defending Nigeria so far from conspiracies hatched against the country, of which Nigerians were not aware.
2. Lev. 26:40–42
Confess the sins of this generation and that of our fathers for colluding with the invaders. The truth of the matter is that the invaders could never have come this far with their conspiracy if some of our people did not collude with them. Let us confess our sins so that God will remember the land.
3. Jer. 10:11
Pray that all the forces of darkness conspiring to take over Nigeria shall fail in their pursuits.
4. Isaiah 8:9–10
Pray that all the foreign nations involved in the conspiracy against Nigeria shall be broken in pieces, according to the word of God.
5. Isaiah 54:14–15
Pray that all the foreign multi-nationals and globalists pursuing an agenda of hostile take-over of Nigeria and its resources shall perish for the sake of Nigeria.
6. Isaiah 33:22
Pray for a new Constitution for Nigeria from the Almighty God. Pray that every resistance to the enactment of a new Constitution for Nigeria shall collapse.
7. Ps. 133
Pray for unity of purpose amongst all the indigenous ethnic nationalities of Nigeria, that they would rise as one to demand and obtain the new Constitution for the country.

MARATHON PRAYERS
Monday 11th – Sunday 17th December, 2023
Last week, there were some posts on WhatsApp in which some Christian elites were rejoicing over the appointment of new Supreme Court justices because seven out of the eleven justices were "Christians." It is good to rejoice at the promotion of our brethren, but not like those elites who went on therefore to celebrate their support for the unfortunate Muslim-Muslim ticket. They went as far as saying that those Christians who opposed the Muslim-Muslim ticket should go to God and ask forgiveness. What an irony!
When Jesus taught us the Lord’s Prayer, after worship, the first request He taught us to make was, “Thy KINGDOM come”. Christianity is about the “Kingdom”. The gospel of Jesus is the gospel of the Kingdom. If Christian leaders do not understand this, how would the Church positively impact the world?
Every kingdom has a throne, and whoever controls the throne controls that kingdom. The Muslims in Nigeria strategically aimed for the throne, then passed down mere portfolios to certain Christians! Have those Christian elites rejoicing over mere appointments forgotten what happened in Egypt?
In Egypt, Pharaoh told Joseph in Genesis 41:40–43, “Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck; And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.”
Undiscerning Jews in Egypt might have rejoiced that their “brother” had become Prime Minister in the land, the same way that some of our Christian elites are rejoicing at ministerial and judicial appointments. Pharaoh handed the whole of Egypt over to Joseph, but he kept back the throne for himself. The throne that exalted Joseph was the same throne that placed the children of Israel in bondage for 430 years!
* Whereas Pharaoh apparently handed Egypt over to Joseph, he kept the throne to himself.
* Nebuchadnezzar handed Babylon over to Daniel, but he did not hand over the throne.
* Darius gave the Medo-Persian empire to Daniel, yet he too did not also give the throne.
* In present day Britain, Rishi Sunak, of Indian descent, is the Prime Minister, but King Charles, an Englishman, holds the throne.
No king hands over their throne, except some Nigerian Christian leaders who, as priests and kings to God, do not understand the value of the throne. May God save Christian leaders from spiritual blindness.
The Muslims have often aimed for the throne in Nigeria. Today, their Christian collaborators are rejoicing at mere appointments, but the throne is bidding its time. The Muslims have taken the Presidency and the Vice Presidency, then given the Senate to a reckless Christian who allegedly took N800 million of state money for his private birthday celebration. They allowed him, so that they could have a long and thick rope to hang him with when the time comes. They have done it before.
Apart from the Presidency and Vice, they have the Number 4 position in the person of the Speaker of the House, and the Number 5 position as the CJN. In other words, they have secured for themselves the prime No 1, No 2, No 4 and No 5 positions, yet some Christians still blindly celebrate mere appointments.
Today, they are giving certain Christians some apparently 'juicy positions,' because they still need them, especially this early in the game. After all, Christians at present have more skilled manpower in Nigeria than the Muslims have. Just as Pharaoh realized that he needed Joseph, so do they realize that they still need the Christians, while they keep building their own manpower. The day they believe that they no longer need you, that day you will realize the power of the throne.
Those who are now rejoicing should think far. What will happen to their children? The power of the throne is in the hand of those who do not believe in your God. Anyone who assumes that a throne that answers to Satan will favour the followers of Jesus Christ must be truly undiscerning and very spiritually unwise.
It is the supporters and promoters of the Muslim-Muslim ticket that should go to God in repentance, in dust and ashes. The gospel that Christians are called to preach is the gospel of the Kingdom, not the gospel of appointments, of garlics and cucumbers. They should go to God and plead with Him to forgive them. They have compromised the interest of the Kingdom of God in Nigeria.
For the rest of us, it is time to pray for the throne and declare, “Thy kingdom come.”
1). Isaiah 42:18–20
Pray for God’s mercy and forgiveness upon the Church. Plead that God would not deal with the Church according to the blindness and ignorance of its leaders.
2). Isa. 28:14-15
The Satanist, Alice Bailey, told her disciples, “Whatever change you implement on the ground, get the Church to endorse it, get the Church to officially cede ground”. That's what is happening in our world now.
Pray that God will diminish and silence every Christian leader who is using their spiritual authority in the Church to endorse evil thrones and promote unrighteous leaders in Nigeria. Pray that heaven shall revoke their endorsement.
3). Joel 2:15–17
Pray for genuine repentance amongst Christian leaders in Nigeria.
4). Ps. 94:20
Pray that the throne of iniquity in Nigeria shall be dismantled by God.
5). Prov. 29:2
The word of God says that when the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice. For many years, Nigerians have not been rejoicing. Pray for the promotion of righteous men and women into positions of authority in the country. Pray that the David whom God promised Nigeria shall manifest.
6). Rev. 11:15
Pray that Nigeria shall become the kingdom of our God and of His Christ. Pray that the throne of Nigeria shall become the throne of Christ (Matt. 6:10).
7). Genesis 1:1-2
In a revelation shared last week at the National Prayer Altar, a sister saw Nigeria opened before her, and the Holy Spirit hovering over the country. Pray that, as in Genesis 1, the Holy Spirit shall alight upon Nigeria and the light of God shall break forth over Nigeria. Pray that the light of God shall destroy every power of darkness in Nigeria. Amen.

MARATHON PRAYERS
Monday 4th December – Sunday 10th December, 2023
There is an interesting controversy in the Church concerning the end times. Some Christians believe in pre-tribulation rapture, others in post-tribulation rapture, and a third group that holds on to mid-tribulation rapture. As divergent as views are on the end times, all Christians hold on to 2 Thes. 2:7, that “the mystery of iniquity doth already work”. Some Bible translations refer to it as the “mystery of lawlessness”. On this point, there is no controversy. There is scarcely a country in which the mystery of lawlessness is more manifest than in present-day Nigeria. Lawlessness and iniquity dominate the society. From the sacred altar of the Church to the hallowed chambers of justice and legislature, Nigerians seem to be competing to see who would be the most rebellious and lawless.
Most state institutions established to curb iniquity and lawlessness in the country are themselves worse than the criminals they were set up to apprehend. The judiciary has become an astonishment while the Police and the Army are experts in the abuse of power. No one should mention the politicians, Customs, and Intelligence Services.
The 2023 general elections will undoubtedly win global award for being the most brazen organized crime on planet earth. Most Nigerian politicians could be described as “the man of sin”.
The youths are not left out, and many marriages have become a joke. A survey has placed Nigerian married women in first in adultery globally, at 62%, while Thailand is second at 59%.
All these works of iniquity are thriving in a country with the largest Christian congregations on earth. A country that is considered the second most prayerful nation after Afghanistan! What went wrong?
The Church must accept responsibility for the state of iniquity in the country. It is the Church that God appointed as spiritual Police to curb lawlessness on earth. This is the reason God gave Christians the “armour of God” (Eph.6: 11 – 18). If Christians wore this armour daily, they would have been able to ensure the moral standards of God and arrest the spirit of lawlessness so as to maintain order and decency in Nigeria. Christians must accept responsibility for the moral decay of Nigeria.
This week, we shall go to God and confess the criminal negligence of the Nigeria Church and commence taking authority over the spirit of lawlessness in Nigeria. Every Christian should develop the consciousness that it is our prayer responsibility to take authority over iniquity and lawlessness in Nigeria. We might not be able to interfere physically, but we must intervene in prayers every time we see or hear of an act of lawlessness. It is the responsibility of the Church to curb the mystery of iniquity.
1. Isaiah 26: 17-18
Repent for the negligence of the Church in failing to curb lawlessness and evil in Nigeria. The Nigeria Church has not been able to bring deliverance to the land, even though it is empowered by God to do so. Pray and repent of this negligence.
2. Rom. 2:1-3; Rom. 2:21-24
Repentance for complicity of the Church in acts of iniquity and lawlessness. Many professing Christians are equally guilty of the rebellion against the moral standard of God in Nigeria.
3. Eph. 6: 12
Take authority over the spirits of darkness supervising and promoting iniquity and rebellion in Nigeria (Matt. 16:19).
4. Matt. 12:29
Take authority over the satanic strongman assigned to keep Nigeria under bondage to sin and lawlessness. Dethrone this prince of darkness and his forces and cast them out.
5. Isaiah 7:7; Lam. 3:37
There is an ancient conspiracy that started in the days of Lord Lugard, to place Nigeria under religious bondage. A few days ays ago, the British Foreign Minister announced this bondage in unmistakable terms, listing Nigeria as among 'Muslim countries.' Pray that it shall not stand, nor come to pass.
6. Ps. 94:20
Destroy every foundation of lawlessness and corruption that the British laid for Nigeria, starting with the first election in this country that was rigged by the British colonialists.
Ps. 89: 14 Pray that the four pillars of the throne of God: righteousness, justice, mercy, and truth shall henceforth sustain governance in Nigeria.
7. Ps.24
Proclaim Nigeria is the Lord’s and the fulness thereof. Command every spiritual gate in Nigeria to open for the King of Glory to enter Nigeria.

MARATHON PRAYERS
Monday 27th November – Sunday 3rd December, 2023
He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas (Matt. 16:2–4).
There is a sign, which a wicked and adulterous generation seeks: more miracles and wonders; but that sign shall not be given to it. Rather, a different sign shall be sent: the sign of Prophet Jonah.
What is the sign of Prophet Jonah? “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown” (Jonah 3: 4).
A discerning mind does not require prophecy to perceive that something is about to happen in this season. As loving as the Almighty God is, He will not permit iniquity and rebellion to reign supreme the way it is manifesting in Nigeria. God in His mercy has been sending signals, that He is about to judge.
A sister shared a revelation during the week, stating, “As I worshipped, my eyes got opened and I saw an angel dressed like a Jewish Rabbi, standing with a uniquely shaped Shofar, ready to blow. The angel said, ‘I have come to announce a new season upon the Earth.’”
The Wailing Women Worldwide received a message while on a retreat in Spain. The message said, “Escape, escape, escape from the wrath of God that is to come: (a warning from God to everyone, both Christian believers and unbelievers)”.
Still, another sister shared the revelation of a man fleeing in terror and screaming, “Judgment is coming, judgment is coming”.
Prophet Jonah proclaimed judgment. That proclamation was met with repentance in Nineveh, and the judgment was averted.
How will this generation respond to the sign of Prophet Jonah? How will Nigeria respond to the signs of the times? More importantly, how will you respond? Something is about to happen. Look at the signs of the times.
1). Rom. 2:1-2
Praise God that His judgment “is according to truth”. God will judge each one of us according to the truth of our doings. Bless God that the righteous shall not share in the judgment of the ungodly.
2). Ps. 139:23–24
Pray for personal consecration to God, and sanctification from sin and evil. Pray for grace to remain pure and sinless.
3). Luke 21:34–36
Pray for grace to be accounted worthy to escape whatever is going to happen in Nigeria and in the world. Pray for grace not only to escape but also to be qualified to stand before Jesus Christ in glory. Pray for all the members of your family, that they shall be accounted worthy to escape.
4). John 1:5
All the wickedness we see in Nigeria are the works of darkness. Pray for the light of God to destroy every work of darkness in Nigeria. Pray that that light shall expose all the workers of darkness and render their powers null and void in the country.
5). Ps. 18:28
Pray for the light of God to fill your spirit, soul, and heart. Pray that wherever darkness is operating in your life, the light of God shall shine upon it and nullify its power and its works.
6). Heb. 1:7
Pray for the Church of God in Nigeria, that fresh fire shall be poured upon it from heaven; that the fire of God shall consume from it everything that displeases Him. May it be purification by fire for Nigeria Church.
7). Matt. 6:10
Pray that the government of the Kingdom of God shall be established in Nigeria; that every government of fraud and wickedness shall be uprooted from the land.
Amen.

Ps. 46:1
NATIONAL PRAYER ALTAR
MARATHON PRAYERS
Monday 20th - Sunday 26th November 2023
"And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding" (Daniel 2:21).
In three instances in the Scriptures, God talks about "times and seasons". In Daniel 2:21, the Scriptures make it clear that God controls the times and seasons. In Acts 1:7, the Bible tells us that there are specific times and seasons that God keeps close to Himself, while 1 Thessalonians 5:1 confirms that there are certain times and seasons that the saints have been given the power to know.
Any Christian assembly that lacks knowledge of the times and seasons that they ought to know will always act out of alignment with the perfect will of God. Christian leadership that does not understand the times and seasons that God has appointed for the Church and the nation will fail in its assignment.
Ecc. 3:1-8 admonishes that there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven. There is a time to love, and there is a time to hate. There is a time for war, there is a time for peace.
What time and season do we now have in Nigeria?
We are in a time and season in which iniquity is full. Every aspect of the country is brimming over with iniquity. Even the institutions established to curtail iniquity and lawlessness have themselves become lawless and sinful. To worsen matters, the Church that should be the moral standard for the country is not free. Never in the history of Christianity in Nigeria has the Church witnessed a generation of Church leaders whose only interest is Mammon. The Christian virtues of integrity, faithfulness and fear of God make no meaning to many Christian leaders.
When iniquity is full, judgment must follow. God has been sending signals in recent days that He is set to commence judgment in Nigeria. Our responsibility as intercessors is to understand what God wants to do and align with Him in the place of prayers. This is the season to intensify prayers for God to judge the wicked and the ungodly in Nigeria. It is clear that unless God executes judgment without further delay, more innocent lives will be lost, and more destruction will befall the country. Wickedness is the auto pilot in Nigeria. Only the judgment of God can apply the brakes.
This is no time to pray for God's mercy on wicked leaders, within and outside the Church. Isaiah 26:10 makes it clear, "If favor is shown to the wicked, he does not learn righteousness; in the land of uprightness he deals corruptly and does not see the majesty of the Lord." The wicked do not respond to mercy; they respond to judgment.
The prayer for God to judge the wicked and the ungodly in Nigeria must continue. We must pray through for God to commence judgment on evil and wickedness in Nigeria.
Isaiah 26:9 says, "For when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness."
Only the judgment of God can teach Nigeria righteousness.
Pray for judgment.
1. Isaiah 33: 22: "For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; he will save us."
Worship and bless the LORD who is our judiciary, our legislature, and our presidency. He is the Judge of all flesh. Call on Him to save Nigeria by His righteous judgment.
2. 1 Pet. 4:17 - Call upon God to commence His judgment within the Church. Pray that God will purge the Nigeria Church of everyone and everything that defiles and pollutes the Body of Christ.
3. Isaiah 4:4-5: Pray that God will purge the Nigeria Church with "the spirit of judgment and the spirit of burning."
Pray that God shall restore His glory to the Church after cleansing it of its filth.
4. Malachi 3:5: Pray for God to come swiftly in judgment against sorcerers, occultists, oppressors, and all wicked and evil leaders in Nigeria. Let God be a swift witness against them in judgment.
5. Isaiah 26:9-11: Nigeria has become a lawless, reckless, and unjust country. Pray that God will teach Nigeria righteousness through the manifestation of His fiery judgment. Pray God's hand to move in righteous indignation against wicked souls in this country.
6. Ps. 9:7-9: Pray that God will sit in judgment over every case that the judiciary in Nigeria has judged unrighteously; that God will execute judgment upon every case that the judiciary compromised.
7. Ecc. 8:11: Pray that God will arise and speedily execute judgment in Nigeria, to halt the society from self destruction.

Ps. 46:1
NATIONAL PRAYER ALTAR
MARATHON PRAYERS
Monday 13th November – Sunday 19th November 2023
After the solemn assembly organized by the National Prayer Altar in October 2023, we drew consolation from the word of God that “we have received mercy; we faint not.” (2 Cor. 4: 1) The mercy of God has two sides. While one side brings life and refreshing to the oppressed and downtrodden, the other side executes judgment and punishment upon the oppressors and the wicked. It was in mercy that God brought Israel out of bondage in Egypt; it was also in demonstration of God’s mercy that Pharaoh and his hosts were drowned in the Red Sea (Ps. 136:13–15).
As we have received mercy, it is inevitable that judgment will come upon the enemies of God in Nigeria. After the solemn assembly, prophetic messages came in quick succession (interestingly, not from the National Altar) that judgment was imminent. Various prophetic messengers, from within and outside Nigeria, delivered the same message: judgment is coming.
In anticipation of God’s mercy and deliverance for the oppressed and downtrodden people of Nigeria, prayers should commence to hasten the judgment of God. We should not discountenance the ability of those in the occult to see judgment approaching and in response, commence spiritual manipulations to either delay it or divert it upon innocent people. We must insist in the place of prayers that those “who eat sour grapes, their teeth shall be set on edge” (Jer. 31:29–30) and those who dig pits of destruction for Nigerians shall fall into their own pit (Ecc. 10:8). Amen.
When God’s judgments are upon the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. God’s judgment produces righteousness. (Isaiah 26: 9 – 11) Righteousness produces peace (Isaiah 32: 17) Therefore, if Nigerians want peace, they should pray for God’s judgment upon the wicked in the country. It is evident that only the judgment of God will teach righteousness to the wicked and powerful in Nigeria. No amount of appeal or supplication will work.
This week, we shall concentrate prayers for God to hasten the commencement of His judgment, so that Nigeria will learn righteousness and eventually have peace.
1. Ps. 68:1–3: Thank God for rising to execute judgment upon evil and wickedness in Nigeria. Pray that God will arise and all His enemies in Nigeria will scatter.
2. Isaiah 26:9–11: Pray that God will teach Nigeria righteousness through the execution of His judgment.
3. Ez. 9:5–6: Pray that the judgment of God will start from the Church, and destroy occult practitioners, cultists, warlocks and witches, fraudsters, sex perverts, and servants of mammon who masquerade as servants of Christ (2 Cor. 11:13–15).
4. Ezekiel 18:1–4: Pray that the judgment of God shall spare the innocent. Pray that anyone who does not need to be judged will not partake of the judgment of God.
5. Ezekiel 9:4 Pray for yourself and members of your family, that you will not share in the punishment of the wicked. Pray that God will set His mark upon you and upon the members of your family.
6. Ez. 11:2–11: Pray and cancel with the blood of Jesus every sorcery, ritual, or form of satanic manipulation to hinder the judgment of God or to defer it in any way. Pray that whatever the wicked wants to do to hinder the judgment of God, it will not work.
7. Ps 24:7–10: Command every spiritual gate in Nigeria to open for the King of Glory and the hosts of heaven to enter Nigeria and execute God’s judgment upon the wicked and upon the unrighteous powers in Nigeria. Amen.

Ps. 46:1
NATIONAL PRAYER ALTAR
MARATHON PRAYERS
Monday 6th October – Sunday 12th November 2023
The Lord handed over to us a gospel with dual focus: repentance from sin and the coming kingdom of God. The Bible makes it clear in many verses that Jesus went about preaching the kingdom of God. Matt. 4: 23; 10: 7; Mk. 1: 14 – 15.
The conflict in the world is between the kingdom of God headed by Jesus, and the kingdom of the world, headed by Lucifer. It is this conflict that has pushed prayers out of schools and made Christianity the most hated and persecuted religion in the world.
In Nigeria, the contest between the kingdom of God and that of the world is responsible for the persecution of Christians and the unconcealed attempts to make one religion superior in the country contrary to the secularity of the country enunciated in Section 10 of the 1999 Constitution.
Various malevolent actors, both state and non-state, have demonstrated hatred and intolerance towards the Church and Christians. Unfortunately, many undiscerning Christians (many of these in the leadership), believe they can maintain cordial relationship with the world without compromising Christian standards. (James 4: 4) The result is a weak and corrupt Church.
There is an intentional plan, enunciated in the Abuja Declarations 1989 and the OIC strategy meeting of 1983, to “eradicate in all its forms and ramifications, Christianity” in Nigeria. In 2014, this vital information was contested by many Christian leaders who ignored prophetic warnings and brought a jihadist government into power. After eight years of the Buhari Administration, most of those who disbelieved, no longer have any dissenting opinion.
A few days ago, a notorious Islamist was in Nigeria and described the Nigerian Air Force as the “Muslim Air Force”. He also referred to the head of Islam in Nigeria as the “heads of state”. These statements should not be taken lightly. Around the same period, information surfaced in the media that five Air Force Officers were arrested and jailed since 2021 for attending a program of Christian Association of Nigeria in Kaduna. These are worrisome signals in a country that carries 89% of global mortality because of persecution of Christians.
It is true Jesus Christ promised that “hell shall not prevail” against His Church. However, what happened to Egypt, Algeria, Syria, Libya, Sudan, Lebanon, Turkey, and other countries that were once Christian nations but were Islamised? The promise of the Lord that hell shall not prevail is certain, but what would happen if some sons of the Kingdom open the gate for hell, because of greed and compromise? In this season, the Nigeria Church requires leaders who are free from greed and covetousness.
A prophetic warning from God in 2013 gave the Nigeria Church 30 years to put its house in order or else it might end up like Turkey. Ten years after God’s warning, some Church leaders endorsed the Muslim-Muslim ticket and consolidated political power in the hands of jihadists. It is time to stand for the kingdom of God. Our gospel is the gospel of the kingdom.
1. Matt. 16: 18 – 19: Thank God for His promise that hell shall not prevail against the Church of Jesus Christ. Pray that Nigeria will not become like one of the countries in which Christianity was destroyed.
2. Is. 42: 18 – 20 Pray for God to deliver the Nigeria Church from leaders who, through spiritual blindness, make the enemies of the Lord their friends and financiers.
3. Rev. 3: 15 – 17: Pray for God to speedily judge all Church leaders who place the love of money above loyalty to Jesus Christ.
4. Isaiah 63: 3 – 6: Pray that the Lord will step in and redress every compromise that has made the Nigeria Church weak and a prey to enemies.
5. Isaiah 59: 16 – 18: Pray that the Lord shall clothe Himself with zeal and enter Nigeria to repay fury to His enemies, both within and outside the Church.
6. Jeremiah 10: 11: Pray that every religion that is conspiring evil against Christianity in Nigeria shall perish from the earth and from under these heavens.
7. Matt. 6: 10: In this war between the two kingdoms, pray that the kingdom of God shall prevail, and it shall be solidly established in Nigeria.

MARATHON PRAYERS
Monday 30th October – Sunday 5th November 2023
A Nigerian commented recently on the social media that he owed Ms. Mmesoma Ejikeme an apology. That was the secondary school girl who fraudulently inflated her JAMB scores to award herself the highest score in Nigeria. The entire country castigated the young girl for her fraudulent audacity. What Nigerians condemned in one breath, is being celebrated in the other breath.
The Yoruba people have a proverb, that you do not obtain a blessing by fraud. Now that Nigeria has legalized illegality, what next?
Interestingly, our concern is this matter is not politicians but some of our church leaders, who repeatedly act in ways not consistent with the principles and ethics of the gospel they claim to preach. Radical Muslims were facilitated into office in 2015 by some Christian leaders. They were re-elected in 2019 by the direct intervention of colluding church leaders, and the Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2023 was endorsed by many church leaders even though they claimed the opposite. Their actions keep speaking louder than their words.
It seems church leaders are least concerned about the tens of thousands of Christians that have been murdered by radical Muslims. Neither do they appear bothered about the many Christian communities sacked by insurgents and taken over by Muslims.
It is also clear that church leaders pay little attention to God’s prophetic warning. On Saturday 14th September 2013, God warned, “If care is not taken, in 30 – 40 years, Nigeria will be like Turkey.” Ten years after that prophetic warning, church leaders consolidated political power in the hands of the Muslims through their endorsement of the Muslim-Muslim ticket. The premature congratulatory letters of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) while the case was still in court, and the press conference of PFN after the Supreme Court ruling, are evidence of questionable endorsement.
Well, maybe our church leaders know something that we do not know. If that is correct, they are yet to share their superior knowledge with us. However, from what we have seen of Nigeria since Buhari was President, there are justifiable reasons to be worried about the politics of religion, which has caused unwarranted tension, distrust, and destruction in Nigeria.
As Christians, all we can do is to pray and petition God to deliver His Church, and this country, from leaders who place their personal selfish interests above the interest of their followers. It is in realization of these facts that the National Prayer Altar has called a Solemn Assembly this week, from 29th October – 31st October 2023, to repent of what the Bible describes as “iniquity of the sanctuary” (Num. 18:1).
1. Isaiah 52:3: The Nigeria Church was compromised with the vanities of the world, which amounts to “nought” in the Presence of God. Pray that both the Church and Nigeria shall be redeemed by God without money.
2. Jer. 31:29–30; Ez. 18:1–4: Pray that the indignation of God shall be restricted to those who compromised truth and righteousness both in the Church and in the country. Remind God that the guilty priests alone should bear the iniquity of the sanctuary (Num. 18:1).
3. 2 Chro. 7:14: Pray that in this week of repentance, God shall have mercy and hear our prayers and heal our land.
4. Mal. 3:3: Pray that God shall “sit as a refiner and purifier of silver” and purge the Nigeria Church of whatever defiles the sanctuary of God.
5. Jer. 24:7: Pray that God will turn the heart of Nigerian Christians back to Him. Pray that the Church shall cease to pursue vanities of the world and seek God only.
6. Acts 1:8: Pray for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon Nigerian Christians, that will make them do the will of God and seek only God’s approval. Pray that the Nigeria Church shall be a witnessing Church.
7. Psalm 75:5–7: Pray that God will promote righteous and God-fearing Christians into positions of leadership in the Church. Pray that God will raise a new set of leaders for His Church in Nigeria

NATIONAL PRAYER ALTAR
MARATHON PRAYERS
Monday 23rd October – Sunday 29th October 2023
The National Prayer Altar has scheduled Sunday 29th – Tuesday 31st October, 2023 for a national solemn assembly to repent of the sins, transgressions, and iniquities of the Church in Nigeria. The focus of this solemn assembly is to address what the Bible calls “the iniquity of the sanctuary” (Num. 18: 1). Prominent among the actors in the iniquities are the priests, who have been able to act with impunity because Christians indulge them and fail to demand Godly accountability from them. This points to the need to re-check our individual salvation. There could not be so many people going to Church in Nigeria yet the country is globally reproached for corruption, greed, and lawlessness. It does not add up.
In 2009, God gave a double revelation that only 24 people would have been raptured in the city of Ibadan had the rapture taken place then. Elementary Geography teaches that Ibadan was the largest city in West Africa.
Recently, God gave another revelation of the rapture to another trusted sister in which, out of 100 remnants, only 60 were approved of God. The remnants are a group of disciples in the Church who, like the ten virgins, are awaiting the return of the Lord. When the sister cried out in the revelation on account of the severity of the judgment, the Lord told her that He would not lower His standards. This should be of great concern to every heavenly-minded Christian.
The Lord made only one promise to His people: “And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life” (1 John 2: 25). This is the only instance in the New Testament in which the Lord makes a promise to His people.
God the Father gave His Son for only one purpose: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3: 16). Christianity is about eternal life. Any other promise in the Church is secondary. Christians who have revelation of eternal life do not need anyone to tell them to be holy or righteous. This is the crucial teaching that is lacking in the Church.
As we approach the week of solemn assembly, let us re-check our salvation.
1. Matt. 1: 21: Thank the Almighty God for sending Jesus to save you from your sins.
2. I John 1: 9 – 10: Confess to God every sin that is witnessing against your conscience that you have offended God. Between you and God, lay everything bare and ask for forgiveness in the Name of Jesus.
3. 1 Tim. 5: 24: Pray that Holy Spirit will bring to your remembrance every sin that you might have forgotten, even though the consequences are being experienced.
4. John 6: 34 – 36: Pray for deliverance from the sin nature, called the “Adamic nature” or “the old man”. Pray that Jesus will make you free indeed from sin, transgression, and iniquity.
5. Acts 16: 31: Pray that every member of your family shall be saved. Intercede passionately for your family, particularly your children.
6. 1 Thes. 5: 1 – 6: Pray that the coming of the Lord shall not catch you unawares. Pray for soberness and spiritual alertness. Pray that you will not be disqualified on the day of the rapture.
7. 1 Tim. 2: 3 – 4: God wants all men to be saved. Intercede for the salvation of every unsaved soul. Pray that the goodness of God shall lead unsaved souls to repentance.

Monday 16th October – Sunday 22nd October 2023
1 Cor. 11: 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
There are two ways in which controversies are resolved with God: through repentance by man or judgment from God. Whenever man offends God then turns to God in genuine repentance, judgment is averted. However, if man does not repent, he incures God’s wrath and judgment.
From the current state of the Nigerian Church, it is evident that there are controversies between God and the Church. We are aware that the apex body of Christianity organized a solemn assembly in 2022. Regrettably, whatever might have been the benefit of that gathering, it was frittered away when the Church turned around and threw its weight again behind a jihadist party in the 2023 elections. The endorsement by the Church, of the controversial jihadist candidate, calls for fresh introspection by Christians. It is spiritually insensitive of Church leaders to endorse a political party that supervised genocide against Christians.
The National Prayer Altar is calling for 3 days of solemn assembly in October 2023 to offer repentance to God on behalf of the Nigeria Church. We have the assurance of God in 2 Chro. 7: 14 that “If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face … I will hear from heaven … and heal their land.” God wants to hear from “His people”.
1. Hosea 6: 1 – 2: Pray for a penitent heart amongst Nigerian Christians. Pray that the hearts of the Christians shall be tender, and the Church shall acknowledge its faults before God.
Rom. 2: 4: Pray that the goodness of the Lord shall lead Nigerian Christians to repentance.
2. Joel 2: 15 – 17: Pray that Church leaders shall be broken and penitent to offer genuine repentance to God.
Pray that there shall be deliberate forsaking of the pride and covetousness of some Church leaders that weakened Christianity in Nigeria.
3. Mal. 2: 6 - 7: Pray that God shall sanctify the leaders of the Church in Nigeria. Pray that the scandals and evil reports associated with Christian leadership shall be heard no more.
4. Gal. 1: 8 – 9: Pray that God will speedily judge all those who teach error and pervert the gospel of Jesus Christ.
5. 1 Cor. 4: 1 – 2: Pray for faithfulness and integrity amongst leaders of the Church in Nigeria.
6. John 15: 1 – 2: Pray that God will purge the leadership of the Nigeria Church. In addition, pray that God will purge the entire Church of everything that defiles, pollutes, and corrupts the Body of Christ in Nigeria.
7. Rev. 3: 8: Pray for the faithful ministers of God in the land, that God will promote them and place them in positions of authority in the Church.

Monday 9th October – Sunday 15th October 2023
On Saturday 7th October 2023, fifty years after the Yom Kippur war, a globally recognized terrorist group, Hamas, attacked Israel setting off a conflict that could have far reaching consequences. There are speculations that, for Hamas to have breached the security architecture of Israel, they might have obtained help from one of the two countries capable of such a technological breach:
USA and Russia. It is less likely that the US would help the terrorists to attack Israel. Nikki Haley, former US ambassador to the UN, said, “Israel does not need America; America needs Israel.” If Russia had a hand in the terrorist invasion of Israel, the attack by Hamas might turn into a greater conflict. That larger conflict, with Israel and the Arabs as the centrepiece, could provide the grounds for the emergence of the Antichrist.
2 Thes. 2:7-8 reveals that the Wicked one will manifest when the hinderer of lawlessness will “be taken out of the way”. The rapture of the Church signals the last week-year in the prophecy of Daniel (Dan. 9). For the Antichrist to come as a man of peace, there must be a colossal conflict that he will resolve between Israel and its enemies. The world might be heading in the direction of that conflict. Therefore, Christians must be alert to global events as they signal the fulfilment of Biblical prophecies. In addition, Christians must pay attention to personal salvation and ensure that their garment is washed daily in the blood of the Lamb of God.
Rom. 13:11 - "And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed."
1. Ps. 122: 6 – 9: Pray for Israel.
2. Rom. 13: 11 – 14: Pray that the coming of the Lord will not catch you unawares.
1 Thes. 5: 4 – 9: Pray for grace to be awake and alert in the Spirit when the Lord would come or call.
3. Acts 16: 31: Pray for the salvation of all the members of your family.
4. Dan. 12: 3; Prov. 11: 30: Pray that God will make you useful as a soul winner. Pray for grace to win souls into the Kingdom of God.
5. 1 Tim. 2: 3 – 4: Intercede for the salvation of your community, state, and country.
6. Mark 16: 15: Pray that the Church shall return her focus to the Great Commission. Pray that missions and soul winning shall be restored to their prime positions in the Church.
7. 2 Thes. 3: 1 – 2: Pray for missionaries, evangelists and all soul winners, for strength, fruitfulness, and divine provision.

MARATHON PRAYERS
Monday 2nd October – Sunday 8th October 2023
On 1st October 2023, Nigeria celebrated its 63rd Independence anniversary. It is customary to express well wishes to birthday celebrants. As a community of intercessors, let us wish Nigeria well on the occasion of its 63rd birthday anniversary.
Out of frustration and disappointments with the government, many Nigerians have cursed, abused, reproached, and condemned the country. No entity brings forth the best it has if it is consistently condemned the way some people have been castigating the country. The power of life and death is in the tongue (Prov. 18: 21). As Christians, let us bless Nigeria and pronounce life upon our country.
1. Lam. 3: 22-23 - “It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
Thank God that Nigeria did not die an untimely death even though there have been many threats to the survival of the country.
2. Ps. 94 - Pray that all the wicked and evil people who have been troubling Nigeria shall be no more.
Pray that wicked and evil people shall no longer have access to power and authority in Nigeria.
3. John 1:5 - Pray that the powers of darkness working against Nigeria shall be destroyed by the light of God.
Isaiah 60:1-2 - Pray that the light and glory of God will shine all over Nigeria.
4. Hab. 2: 14 - Pray that the knowledge of the glory of God shall cover Nigeria as the waters cover the sea.
5. Is. 54:13 - Pray for the coming generation of Nigerians that, they shall be filled with goodness, decency, and the fear of God.
6. Is. 60:16–20 – Currently, Nigeria is known as the poverty capital of the world. Pray that the tide shall change, and Nigeria shall become the wealth capital of the world.
Pray that it shall be well with Nigeria. Pronounce blessings upon the country.
7. Matthew 6:10 - Pray that the government of the Kingdom of God shall replace the government of the wicked and unrighteous people that has been tormenting Nigeria for many years.
