It has been reported that at a prayer gathering of some servants of God,  Pstr E A Adeboye was lying face down and praying softly for a very long time. Anther younger minister, curious to know the sort of matters that engage Pstr Adeboye crawled near him to eavesdrop on his conversation with the Lord. All that he heard him praying for as long as he lay there was "Please Lord, show mercy....Have mercy...etc". Men and brethren, if we secure God's mercy in this critical season of our lives, of the Church and Nigeria, we are made! Let us take a liittle moment again for yet another week to cry for mercy.

PRAYER POINTS

  • THE BLOOD FOR MERCY: Lev_16:14“And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times” They of old had to sprinkle the blood 7 times to perfect the flow of mercy; today we have same by the blood of Jesus Christ shed “once for all” (Heb 10.10). Plead the blood of Jesus Christ upon your self, family, the Church and Nigeria; and pray that God will look upon the blood and have mercy.
  • ADEQUATE PRAYERS TO SECURE MERCY: Lev_16:13“And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not” It takes some quantum (volume) and quality of praise and prayers to stir adequate mercy [“that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy”] to avert death or disaster. Pray that the Spirit of God will work in believers to will and to do to God’s pleasure; and raise the right volume of acceptable prayers to avert disaster in this critical season of our nation.
  • OBEDIENCE FOR MAXIMUM MERCY: Deu_7:12“Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy…” A day with God is like a thousand years. Just 3 days of repentance and fasting averted destruction for Nineveh. Pray that God will stir the hearts of Nigerians in general but especially His children to obey like never before, provoking mercy of God that will avert disaster in Nigeria and trigger a beneficial national transition.
  • RESTITUTION FOR MAXIMUM MERCY: Deu_13:17 “…cleave nought of the cursed thing to thine hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of His anger, and shew thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and multiply thee” Pray that God will touch as many as can make restitution in any respect to do so and stay faithful thereafter “that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of His anger, and shew…mercy” unto us and unto Nigeria
  • OVERRIDING MERCY: 2Sa 7:14-15“I will be his father, and he shall be My son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men. But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul” The situation in Nigeria especially for believers is so critical that we simply cannot take any chances in 2023. Perhaps there be some iniquity of which God has been sore aggrieved with His children in Nigeria, let us plead with God to show mercy not to take it away at this critical time and to deliver the Church and Nigeria.
  • SPIRITUAL & SOCIO-ECONOMIC REVIVAL BY MERCY: Hab_3:2“O LORD, revive Thy work,…in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy” The Church especially in the North has been battered; many in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps; many whole communities sacked or even taken over. Socio-economically, Nigeria has been plundered and mismanaged to near death. Breakup and divisive pressures have been widespread. Pray that the Lord in mercy would breathe on Nigeria afresh and trigger needed spiritual and socio-economic rebirth. Pray for mercy in any other respects you are stirred.

  • PARDON AND HELP BY MERCY: Exo_34:7“Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin…” If God was to weigh and act upon what we deserve, what is our hope? Ask God for pardon and help in mercy for you, your family, the Church and Nigeria

Pray that purely out of mercy, the Lord will raise a successor to the present national leader that will cause nations to begin to come to Nigeria to learn righteousness, learn management of ethnic diversity, and learn socio-economic transformation and sustainable development.
  • END OF DEATH & DESTRUCTION BY MERCY: Psa_6:2; 9.13“Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed....Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that lifts me up from the gates of death” Militarily, politically, and in many respects, the Church is terribly weak relative to its adversaries, though it ought not to be. The only strength of the Church is in God and in superior numbers which it has failed to harness so far. Pray that God will deliver the Church from further death and destruction this year and from being “vexed”.
  • GREAT DELIVERANCE BY MERCY: Psa_18:50“Great deliverance gives He to His king; and shows mercy to His anointed…” Under the new covenant, we are all priests and kings, and God’s anointed.   • DARKNESS VANQUISHED: Psa_30:5“For his anger endures but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning” The morning is when light subdues and vanquishes darkness. Pray that the manifestation of the Great Light we have seen shall cause darkness to be subdued and vanquished throughout Nigeria
  • END OF KILLINGS: Mar_8:24“And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking” Europeans saw Africans as animals and used them as slaves for centuries. Politicians in Nigeria are using fellow humans as tools to power and wealth.   • SPEED & LASTING IMPACT: Joh_5:20“For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that Himself does: and He will show Him greater works than these, that ye may marvel” The work of just 3 years done with great light has left the world marvelling and impacted positively to date and for eternity.   • ELIMINATING MAMMON SPIRIT: Php 3:18“For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.”Take authority over every mammon spirit operating in Nigeria, especially the Church. Bind it and cast it out; delete and reversal its influence as it blinds people , causing people to prioritize material gains; thus missing vital kingdom agenda
  • UNDERSTANDING; WISDOM: 1Ch_12:32“And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do” Pray that God will give Nigerians, especially the Church, understanding of times and seasons, so we do not miss out on God’s moves to uplift and transform. Jas_1:5 “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, …and it shall be given him.”
  • RECOGNITION OF & FELLOWSHIP WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT: Joh_16:13“Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth” Again, pray for God’s help that that believers in Nigeria will walk in close fellowship with the Holy Spirit, acknowledging Him, appreciating Him; so our paths are continually guided and we cannot miss God, or be ignorant of necessities for our peace.
  • UNITY IN THE BODY OF CHRIST: Psm 133:1“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! ...for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore” and Amo_3:3 “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” Pray that God will unite our hearts on His will and suppress selfish ambitions and needless rivalries. Thus God Himself would delight in revealing to the Church in Nigeria things that would make for “life for evermore” including our peace
  • HUMILTY: Jas_4:6“But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resists the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble” right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Come against every spirit of pride and arrogance. Pray for humility in the Body of Christ so that God will cause grace to flow towards the Church, help us know what to do per time, and not miss or day nor the things that make for peace.
  • REGULAR WORDS OF LIFE: Luke 19:41 “And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it” Jesus is recorded to have wept just twice: over Lazarus’ death and over the ignorance of Jerusalem and the resultant gloomy future of the city and its citizens (He may have wept at Gethsemane too; but we are only told of bloody sweat). PROCLAIM: Thank you, Lord. By your mercies, Your Church in Nigeria shall be victorious over ALL foes, we shall be faithful and righteous; nations shall come here to learn righteousness; God shall not have cause to weep over Nigeria or the Church in it; nor over me or my family. Proclaim and sustain proclamation of other words of life over self, family, the Church and Nigeria

  • SPIRITUAL AWAKENING & SENSITIVITY: Luke 19:42“If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! But now they are hid from thine eyes.”Pray that, God in His mercies should not let the things that would make for our peace in Nigeria to be hidden from our eyes
  • REVERENTIAL FEAR: Psm_25:14“The secret of the LORD is with them that fear Him; and He will show them His covenant” Pray that Nigerians, especially the Church, we would live in reverential fear of God, such that God will delight in revealing all that will make us safe, secure and wholesome per time.
  • RIGHTEOUSNESS; UPRIGHT WALK: Psm_84:11“For the LORD God is a Sun and Shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly” Again, pray for God’s help that that believers in Nigeria will walk uprightly, in all faithfulness and righteousness. Pray that the Lord as our Sun will not leave us in darkness regarding any vital matter, especially the things that make for our peace as individuals, families, as the Church in Nigeria and as a nation; that “no good thing will He withhold” rather He will fill us with grace and glory
  • COVENANT RELATIONSHIP: Isa 54:10“For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but My kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of My peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee” God is the Prince (Ruler) of Peace, a contractual (covenant) peace giver. Reaffirm and reinforce the covenant relationship of you and your family with Him. Then also pray that believers in Nigeria will not just go to Church but establish firm personal and family covenant relationships with God. Finally, pray that the nation of Nigeria will establish and be firm/faithful to a covenant relationship with Jehovah through Christ Jesus.
  • PRAYERFULNESS LEANING ON GOD AND NOT FEELING SELF SUFFCIENT: Psm_16:11“Thou wilt show me the path of life: in Thy presence is fullness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Pray for yourself and your family; then pray for the Church and for Nigeria that we shall be prayerful, not as religious routine but in faith and sincere acknowledgment of the need for God; that in God’s presence, we will know all that we need to know per time; we shall never be in ignorance of the things that make for our peace as God shows us “the path of life” and positions us for the “fullness of joy”

    • “Let God arise and all His enemies be scattered” _ Psalm 68.1 Pray that the Day of the Lord come speedily when “all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble”

  • Act 9:1,3: “And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord....And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven” Pray that as Saul was struck and arrested and subject in authority to the will of Christ in Acts 9, this 9th week of Nigeria’s year, let all persecutors of the Church and troublers of Nigeria be arrested unto salvation or unto destruction as the Lord knows is best for each
  • Est 9:1“Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same, when the king's commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, in the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to have power over them, (though it was turned to the contrary, that the Jews had rule over them that hated them;)” Pray that like in Esther 9, this 9th week of Nigeria’s year, the evil plots and schemes of the enemies of the gospel and of believers will come on their own heads; and God’s people will experience a mighty deliverance that will be lasting and memorable
  • Jdg 9:53-57“And a certain woman cast a piece of a millstone upon Abimelech's head, and all to brake his skull. Then he called hastily unto the young man his armourbearer, and said unto him, Draw thy sword, and slay me, that men say not of me, A woman slew him. And his young man thrust him through, and he died.....Thus God rendered the wickedness of Abimelech, which he did unto his father, in slaying his seventy brethren: And all the evil of the men of Shechem did God render upon their heads” As in Judges 9, God avenged and ended the wickedness of Abimelech who killed his own brothers, pray that this 9th week God shall decisively avenge and terminate the wickedness of every “Abimelech” in Nigeria at both federal and state levels who have schemed and slain their fellow Nigerians
  • As in the 9th book of the Bible, David emerged and the glorious dynasty that paved way for the Messiah was established, pray that this 9th week, the Davids that God has prepared should emerge and the reign that should pave way for the kingdom of God and His righteousness be established
  • As in Genesis 9, God made an eternal covenant with the remnant of humanity and the new world, pray that this 9th week, an eternal covenant will be established with the Church in Nigeria; and even individual believers will make renewed commitment unto God and enter into firm covenant walk with God

PRAYER POINTS

1. Rev_12:11 “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, …” Plead and cover specific aspects of Nigeria and proclaim that we overcome specific evils or unwholesome things associated with those specific aspects. Plead and cover the following and please add ALL else you can remember:

a. The President, the Presidency, the 3 Arms of government: to overcome all influences and forces from the Middle East, from the Anti-Christ faiths, all influences of cults and the occult, all influences of imaginations, aspirations of overrunning the Christian faith, and the influence of all forces and powers that do not align with the will and plan of Jehovah for Nigeria nor acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord

b. All evil traditional thrones: to overcome any spiritually and materially retrogressive influence over the Presidency, over the military and law enforcement agencies, over the polity and governance of Nigeria, over the hearts of indigenes and residents of Northern Nigeria that they might be liberated to know and to serve the living God

The 36 Governors and Government Houses: to overcome all roots of corruption and bad governance, overcome the roots of dependence and Federal revenue sharing rather than autonomous productivity, growth and revenue generation, to overcome all roots of extractive and exploitative dominance over LGAs, overcome perversion, arming youth, election rigging, inspiration and promotion of cultism and occultism

d. The Atlantic, all rivers, lakes and water bodies; all forests, plants, animals; the earth (land); the firmaments, the elements and ALL creation: to overcome and put a stop to their habouring agents of the devil, their operations; and to enforce full alignment with the will, plan, and purposes of God

e. The 7 Mountains of Influence in Society: to overcome the structures and systems of Babylon and Mammon; overturn and overthrow every arrangement of the devil to promote sin and rebellious lifestyles, including all structures and systems that have sustained corruption in Nigeria

f. Every community, town, city, city, state, geo-political region: to overcome territorial altars, ancestral covenants, satanic yokes that have held them in captivity; and to enforce that the kingdoms of the world have become the kingdoms of our God and of His Christ, that Jesus Christ shall reign henceforth

g. Wrap up with an omnibus pleading and proclamation over the nation and ALL that concern it.
